Flamenco Shoes - Part 2
Flamenco Shoes - Part 2
Moving forward, if Flamenco is something for you. You’ve tried it. You love it. You’re not giving up. You’re just going to go for it. Then you really want to be purchasing the ones from Spain. Here is a collection: Begonia Cervera (http://begonacervera.com/en/), Gallardo, Menkes (https://menkesflamenco.com/americas/en/), Senovilla (https://www.calzadosenovilla.com/en/), and Artefyl (https://www.artefyl.com/). These are all brands that are made in Spain. I’m sure there are much much more.
What you need to know is that suede is more comfortable and will be more moulded to your foot faster, than leather. But if you are advanced and professional, you probably want leather, because those sound better in concert. So leather is harder, suede is softer. Sound and comfort are inversely proportionate in Flamenco. No, you can’t have both, usually. For me, I perform in the Gallardos. Are these the best for class? Maybe not, because they are not the most comfortable. The most comfortable would be the Begonia Cervera in suede. These were the ones I used when I was nine months pregnant.
I think you need to make some choices, based what you’re using your shoe for. If you need to be comfortable in class, or just working out at home, then probably a suede pair. But if you’re aiming for performance, these, all the Spanish ones, you’re looking at $200-300. They can be customized. All the heels, all the looks, all the aesthetics. The colour can be customized specifically for you.
