Mozaico Flamenco On Demand

What Our Students Say

Degan, 40 Kasandra has devised a teaching style that breaks down flamenco into components so that the technique and core elements of the dance are well-understood but also that we students understand the context within which to improvise. As a student in my forties, I appreciate the holistic approach. It is a joy to come to class and have fun while also improving my practice. Flamenco Life and Self Care

Chrystal, 55 - Kasandra doesn’t just teach dance steps, but gives her students a deep appreciation and understanding of flamenco music and culture. She is knowledgeable, inclusive and fun. Her teaching superpowers are her adaptability and her ability to teach to a broad range of students. In less than a year, I’ve gone from having no dance knowledge to feeling confident enough to enrol in a tangos por fiesta class. Confessions of a Zoom Beginner

Susan, 70 - Kasandra explains the basic concepts well and is very repetitive, which is important for those of us who do not pick up choreography quickly (that would be me). The online classes work really well for me; they give me the option of watching without being watched, so I don't feel quite so uncomfortable if I am a klutz! This really lets me learn at my own pace, which is fabulous!

Meet Your Instructor Kasandra

Kasandra is the director of Al Mozaico Flamenco Dance Academy Ltd. and co-founded it in 2002 with her mentor, Oscar Nieto. She has studied extensively in Spain on multiple trips since 1998 under a broad range of flamenco masters from traditional to contemporary artists, from Madrid, Seville and Jerez de la Frontera. See full biography on the Mozaico Flamenco website.

Kasandra’s enthusiasm and energy makes classes fun for students. A conscientious and demanding teacher, she systematically teaches fundamental technique exercises for braceo (arms), floreo (fingers), posture (torso), cadera (hips), vueltas (turns) and zapateado (footwork). Known for her Estilo De Mujer training and Footwork Bootcamps, Kasandra brings us most current and thorough flamenco techniques.

Kasandra analyses the structure behind the dance and systematically breaks down flamenco into basic components so students can understand flamenco structure, choreography and improvisation.

Kasandra places a strong emphasis on integrating dance with music in all classes. Thorough and methodical, she teaches basic music concepts such as compás, time signature, tempo, subdivision and rhythm. This builds a strong foundation for dancers seeking to explore flamenco deeply, dance independently or work in ensembles.
